Taste is not so greatThe flavor is thin . Note that it is freeze dried not powder. Difficult to dissolve and the flavor just isn't what other brands deliver. 2Great for baking.America"s Test Kitchen recommends this product. It is wonderful for enhancing the chocolate flavor in baked goods. 5Caffe D'vita is delicious, dissolves easily, has superb aftertasteCaffe D'vita is my favorite espresso powder for cappuccinos, lattes, or frappuccinos.I think it tastes like a deep roasted rich flavored espresso powder. It's not pure powder; it's chunkier. I would describe it dark brown crystals that dissolve easily.I have tried one other brand: Medaglia D'Oro. I didn't like it. For me, it tasted terrible with a bad aftertaste.I have ordered this twice from Charlie Bean Company and will continue to order from them. My last two cans of this had expiration of 6/2017. Excellent product and fast shipping from that particular seller. 5Great flavor!I bought this for baking. I noticed a great taste improvement in my cookies immediately. I would definitely buy again. 5Excellent espresso flavorI bought this expressly for making a Chocolate Expresso Cookie, and this brand was the most recommended instant espresso to use. It gave a deep mocha/coffee/espresso flavor that the cookie required. Very happy with it. Just wished it wasn't so expensive. But at least it doesn't require a lot to make the cookies. 5Pretty darn, relatively, good, -ish...America's Test Kitchen chose this brand as the best of its ilk, stating that all three items tested by ATK improved the depth of flavor in brownies (and other chocolate baking, I'd guess). ATK assessed that none of the products they tested produced an acceptable hot drink, compared with fresh-brewed. I personally prefer this brand over the comparable product from Starbucks for making an "emergency" hot beverage (...hmm, or maybe a combo of the two could be perfect!), but agree that -- since the science involved in preparation of an "instant" drink product has to create such radical change in the physical properties of the coffee, it would be likely that none of them could produce a drink that could satisfy any palate that even approaches discerning. So my high-ish rating above is a relative assessment among prepared, dried coffee products, not compared with a fresh brew. 4DeliciousAmazing taste. Used in a coffee cake recipe with vanilla espresso buttercream. Absolutely my new favorite. 5Looks like folgers, tastes like folgersNot impressed. Looks like folgers,with big chunks not fine powder, tastes like regular coffee, no creme. I will keep trying to find Cafe Bustelo espresso which yields a nice crema. The best is Nescafe, believe it or not, but their instant espresso is amazing. Great for travel...but expensive. I guess you get what you pay for. 2Used for Baking - Excellent flavor, stays good for a long timeI bought this for using in baking. I've never tried any other brands so I can't offer any comparisons, but I've found this to be a great product. It imparts an excellent coffee flavor without being too strong, and depending on how/in what you use it, it leaves nice little flecks of color. I intend to buy this again when I run out. 5Caffe D'Vita Instant Espresso vs. Medaglia D' Oro Instant EspressoI love coffee, but I also love not having to be messing with the coffee maker sometimes. This instant espresso is one of the best I have tried. I rarely drink instant espresso plain; I mainly use it in iced coffee drinks, frappes or mochas.I also have the Medaglia D' Oro Instant Espresso in our pantry and it is wonderful as well, but with less bite that the Caffe D'Vita supplies. I like to use the Caffe D'Vita when I want a pronounced java edge and the Medaglia D' Oro when a delicate espresso flavor is needed.Neither brand is acidic at all, I find that if I drink it on an empty stomach that I don't get a tummy ache like brewed coffee can sometimes induce.It dissolves quickly in hot water, is lightweight so it travels well (great for backpacking/camping) and both are very versatile to have around for cooking:-- Put a tsp. in a batch of brownies to deepen the dark chocolate flavor-- Add a Tbs in a BIG batch of chili to compliment the spices and add extra richness-- Sprinkle a bit to Mexican mole sauce for punch-- I also put it in: chocolate icing, truffles, chai tea with milk for a java chai latte, coffee drink mixes for extra umph, etc.Both brands are over [...] bucks at supermarkets, when/if you can even find it, so it is nice to know they are cheaper at Amazon. The Caffe D'Vita is even less costly with Subscribe & Save at amazon! 5
