Need a lift?I bought these to fit my Birkenstock sandals ( mainly because they are clear and transparent. They certainly provide enough lift, but they will not stay put int the sandal, so I have rigged up something with double-sided velcro. Still not entirely satisfactoiry. However, they work wonders inside my tennis shoes, and the discomfort (notice that American doctors never use the work 'pain' :-) ) from my heelspur has gotten much better after 10 days of use. 4It was too wide and it cannot be adjusted easily. Technically it's up to 12mmThis did not really fit my shoe. It was too wide and it cannot be adjusted easily. Technically it's up to 12mm, but that will push up your heel too high in most shoes and you may slip out. You may adjust it if you don't need that much, which is a good thing. But the heel lift is also a little too hard for my taste if placed underneath the insole and it has a pretty steep slope, which can make your foot slide forward a little if you exercise or play sports. 2Great Lift Option! After a hip operation, I ended up needing a lift for the unoperated leg/foot. This is a great product, it allows you to peel off layers (or add ones back on) until you determine what makes you feel level/balanced again. For shoes, sneakers & bedroom slippers that don't have a removable inner sole I recommend get a light inner sole (like Dr Scholl's type) & place that over these plastic lifts. I got both the medium & large. As I am a woman, wearing size 8 1/2, the medium works well in typical shoes but for wider items like boots that may have a wider heel area I also purchased the large. If you get a few pair then they can stay in those shoes vs. always having to pull out the one set you own moving them in & out from shoe to shoe. Worth the price, so far see no sign of wear. They stay in place well when placed under a removable inner sole. I am so happy with this item!! 5good heel liftI have a slightly longer right leg so I put a few layers of the heel lift into my left shoe and it seems to have helped. I was having some hip pain from the leg length difference while running. I run 30+ miles a week so any bio-physical issues will show up with that amount of training. I read that you shouldn't use a heel lift and try to correct your stride etc. Well I do land mid-foot and I'm not a heel striker, but the subtle lift does make a difference. My running has improved and I rarely have hip pain now. Granted my problem was minor, it worked great. I only wish you didn't have to order a huge heel lift, because I only used about 1/10th of what was provided. Would be nice to offer cheaper options, maybe half the height and material of this same type of heel lift. Holds up well overall. 4Great Lift that Eliminated Lower Back Tightness and PainThese work very well. After years of going to chiropractor and being told that they can help me with lower back pain and spasm, I decided to try this. I was told years ago, in high school, by an orthopedic that one leg was about 1/2 to 3/4 inches longer than the other. They also referred me to a chiropractor that took care of me via spinal adjustments. Fast forward 20 plus years and I've been seeing a different chiropractor for 18 or months over the last 2.5 years While I had no spasms while seeing the last chiropractor and they were super people, I really got tired of the 21 mile trip hat took 30-40 minutes and longer with the daily evening traffic. Each chiropractor has acknowledge the difference in length between my legs and each one has stated they could help me via adjustments and stretching exercises. While I felt better after seeing them, I still had tightness and just did not feel like I was healing. After thinking it through, it occurred to me that each chiropractor acknowledged the issue, but only ever treated the symptoms such as spasms, tightness, and aches in my lower back. So what was the actual issue? The actual issue was that I had one leg that was longer than the other that cased my pelvis to be shifted and that caused muscles to try balance my body and take it back to equilibrium. So since no one could actually make my shorter leg longer, the root issue was never addressed. So I decided that maybe I could address the issue, not by making my leg longer, but by lifting it so my pelvis would return to level as intended. My condition may have been magnified as an athlete; a former track decathlete and former college football player. After looking at many options, I decided on this once, since it seemed the easiest to adjust if needed. This one was perfect. I only needed to remove two small layers from the bottom, before feeling I'd reached the desired height. This is paired with a shoe insert from the Dollar Tree, that I cut to the length of this lift. Now this lift is not comfortable. In fact, I would not recommend standing on it for longer than a few minutes. It's best to use this under your insole. So I added this to my shoe, added the cut foam insert, and placed my shoe's normal insole back on top. While it took a few days to really get used to the difference, I can feel the overall difference in my back. It does not feel tight or tense anymore. I've since purchased two more of these, to total 3, so I could add to shoes worn the most. The only downside is that I can't actually use these in every shoe. Not the lift's fault, but just how some shoes, mainly dress shoes and or course, slides or sandals.I think this was an excellent buy. This review is not to say but this instead of the chiropractor, but if you have an issue with one leg being longer than the other, then it may be worth trying this. 5Use an insole over it, and never even know it's there once you break it inMy chiropractor showed me that one leg was a bit shorter, so I got this lift to even things out, and it has helped my lower back pain a lot! The lift is made out of flexible but non-compressive plastic, and you take apart the layers to get the lift you need. You can also cut it with scissors to fit your shoe better.I recommend these for use in boots, or other shoes with higher tops. I don't think it would be that comfortable in running shoes with low ankle support... but I haven't tried. It took only a little while for it to break in, and you do want to have an extra insolve over it as it's probably harder than your default shoe base depending on what kind of shoes you have. Overall though this was a worthwhile purchase for me. 5If I d put these in my shoes in 1949 I wouldn t have needed the back surgery!I recently had major back surgery to correct a severe curvature of the spine, the result of being hit by a car more than 50 years ago. Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and reduced a huge amount of my pain. One thing the surgery did not correct was that my accident had also resulted in one leg being 1/2 inch shorter than the other which caused me to have pain in my hip from walking after the surgery.I had the idea of adjusting an orthotic I was already wearing; but after looking online I saw this adjustable lift and thought this is just the ticket . It was, and it works magnificently!I wear a size 12W shoe and bought the large size. It fits well and doesn t move around. I suspect I will buy another one of these as a back-up. I highly recommend this product.By the way, my hip stopped hurting once I started using this lift. Perhaps if I d put these in my shoes in 1949 I wouldn t have needed the back surgery!Note:On Aug 24, 2015 my surgeon look at my lift and loved it he showed me a little imbalance in hip height from x-ray took off two layers of the lift and hips are balanced. 5It was like a chiropractic adjustment for me!This lift did the trick instantly. After I put a small section in the shoe of the short leg and walked a few steps, my back popped and my legs were back even. It was like a chiropractic adjustment. I don't even have to wear the lift now. But I know what to do if I go uneven again. Before the adjustment, I couldn't walk long without horrible back, hip and leg pain on the right side. The only thing I noticed, if worn for awhile, the sections might slide apart. I would think a little glue or tape would be needed once you have the sections like you want them. Also, I got the clear lift to wear with sandals, but again, you need a little piece of tape to keep it in place. By the way, it was enough sections to make two lifts for me - or share with a friend. 5G and W Heel LiftWas having back problems due to one leg being shorter than other. This heel lift is nice and firm which supports my 200 lbs. Other lifts that I have used in the past would flatten out after a short period of time. My back appears to have straightened out and now I can walk without limping. Liftstays in place. I am happy with this purchase. 5Very nice - Runs largeLove these lifts - I need 5mm and get two lifts from one set. Easily trimmed with a quality pair of scissors. Work best under the shoe insole. Pair this lift with Melca Double Sided Tape, 2.5 Inch Double Stick Tape (10 Yards) for a perfect system! I wear a size 10 1/2 shoe/boot and these were too large - I ultimately found the MEDIUM to be the perfect size for my shoe size. 5
