Good supportThis arthritic brace works well once it's on; I have a bit of trouble fastening the velcro with the one hand that's not in the glove, especially when that fastening hand already has a glove on it. I have these gloves for both hands, and once on, they offer very comfortable and good support. They are just a bit difficult to put on, for me; and this may be my personal problem and not shared by others. 4Item numbering issues and color selection.The brace is as expected, except for the color.Be advised that the item numbering system for these products is flat awful. There is/was NO obvious color selection. Evidently, by default, the color received was beige. I didn't want beige. I wanted black. To me, it's not worth the time/effort spent to return/replace the device. 14.9 RatingMy only small reservation with these splints is that the velcro eventually wears out. I wish they could do a small re-think and maybe add snaps, or buttons, or just another velcro patch down by the wrist to double the security. But until I have surgery on my arthritic thumb joint, I'll be relying on this otherwise excellent support to ease some of my chronic pain. 5Great at first, but then velcro doesn't hold very well, so not great after some time.At first these are GREAT! I had a thumb injury and loved this. BUT...way too soon the velcro stops sticking and so it won't stay closed. MIXED FEELINGS about this item, as a result. 4Sizing Inconsistent. Buyer BewareI purchased the same size of my other splints. Same brand. Sized by my Occupational Therapist. So beware the sizing on these are inconsistent. Unfortunately I took too long to try it out and then give it time to stretch. It cut off my circulation. My hand went numb because it was too tight. Now I'm stuck with a splint that doesn't fit. I'll never buy them on line again. 1ComfortableI find this splint to be comfortable and to hold my thumb steady so it doesn't hurt. I have no cartilage left in one of my thumb joints, so if I don't wear a splint, it is very painful. I did purchase my first Comfort Cool Thumb Splint from a brick-and-mortar physical therapy business. It cost me over $100.00. It did have a plastic piece that they warmed and molded to fit between my thumb and over my first finger. However, the splint itself was the same as this one, without the plastic piece. I recommend the above splint. 4Comfortable to Wear While Sleeping or DrivingComfortable and cost-effective. It is not hot. It is easy to put on. Be sure to measure your hand per the web site before ordering. It allows just the right amount of thumb movement. I have a black one I wear when working with my hands around the house and garage to remind me not to hurt myself. I also bought a much, much more expensive "custom molded" thumb brace from a local clinic. It does allow more mobility, but it is not as comfortable and is not suitable at all for driving a vehicle as it interferes with one's grip on the steering wheel. The Comfort Cool Thumb nylon and neoprene splint is much better for driving. 5I Like the Thumb Split DesignI bought this hoping it would be exactly like the one given to my by my Physical Therapist quite a long time ago to give my thumb/wrist support. The one I have is still in great shape, but it's black and wanted a beige. And, very pleased that is almost identical to the one I have. I bought another beige splint last month since I didn't find this until after the fact. And although it does the job, the design is very bulky and not as sturdy as this one. The only thing I'm not pleased about is this manufacturer stamped their rather large and blue logo on the side which, to me, looks a little tacky. Still, good product and just what I wanted. 5A big help following surgery!I have this splint following basal joint arthritis surgery in both the beige and black color. I use the black one when I am wearing dark clothes with sleeves, and the beige one at other times. I always wear one or the other in public, even if I don't need it for the support, just so that when someone reaches for my hand to shake it, it is clear that there is something wrong. Otherwise, people can get carried away with the strong handshake thing and hurt me. I alternate between this splint and the one made of plastic by my physical therapist...this is by far the more comfortable, but at the end of day when my hand really hurts, I do switch back to the hardshell model. Overall, I am very happy with both, and will definitely buy again when I have to have the other hand repaired! 5Almost perfectI have three different thumb splits and this one is, by far, the most comfortable and the easiest to put on and off. The other two cause great difficulty trying to unhook the Velcro. My only complaint is that there is nothing stiff, restricting thumb movement, like the other two. The sleeve that wraps the thumb is very flexible. But it is great for sleeping and for wearing when I work on the computer. 4
