Sizing in description is WAY off The shoe is well constructed but the discrepancy in the sizing losted in the description makes it unusable for me. I wear a women s 10.5. According to the description, a Medium shoe (which I ordered) will fit a women s 10.5-13. As you can see in the video I uploaded, my big toe is pressing against the very edge of the shoe. The sole of the shoe is stiff and my toes don t bend so the shoe operates the way it should. However, the soft material allows for a lot of movement when walking (my foot slides inside the shoe at the heel and off the edge in front) which is causing a bit of discomfort in my damaged toes. Shoe is probably best used over a cast or another shoe. 2Good quality post-op boot but runs smallI broke my big toe and was provided an open-toe post-op shoe and encouraged to purchase a CAM walking boot. The open-toe shoe and boot are fine for moving about the house but not so great for sleeping or wearing to work, where I'd prefer something more lightweight than the walking boot that also protects my toe. The Darco APB boot seemed to be what I was looking for. I wear a women's size 9 wide and after reading the reviews, ordered the medium rather than the recommended small. The medium is almost too small for me. My broken toe just touches the end of the shoe. It doesn't hurt my foot but it definitely makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm hoping that after some time, I'll get used to the sensation of my broken toe having something touching it. The description claims that the boot is oversized to accommodate casts and dressings--I have neither, yet the fit is still on the snug side. On a positive note, the construction is much nicer than the standard hospital-issued post-op shoe and provides plenty of fit customization everywhere but the toe box. The tread is similar to that of a walking boot, sans the rocker sole. The manufacturer needs to reevaluate its sizing because if someone that actually wears the suggested shoe size range for medium bought this shoe, there's no way they'd be able to wear it. 3Works great for broken toeI am a ladies size 8.5 with a broken big toe that I buddy-wrapped to the next toe. Based on the other reviews, I ordered a medium. I might have been able to order a size down because by the time I got this, most of the swelling had decreased. But this is so adjustable that it is working just fine! My toe no longer feels pressure when I walk. I love the fact that it is closed in as I live in an area with snowy roads, parking lots and sidewalks. This was definitely worth the price I paid for it - just hope I don't need it in the future. 5Small too smallwhy I didn't like was because the size was way off. It says that a small is to fit a shoe size up to 10, well I wear a size 9 and my foot was very snug on the toes. So I I had to reorder a Medium and I am waiting for it to arrive. Other than the size problem product looked nice. **Update: The Medium has been great. I have been able to work and walk with my broken little toe. Having the closed toe on the boot helps because of safety at work. Comfortable and a durable boot. I would recommend a Medium size if you wear an 8.5 or 9. 4Overall design and quality is fine unless you re a woman. My background is nursing and I work in DME and have to provide patients with these shoes all the time. At first glance it would appear to be unisex but it isn t. My adult daughter gets stress fractures from being on her feet so much at work so I ordered this shoe for her to wear while she s on the clock. It wouldn t have mattered where I had purchased it, these shoes are all the same. She s required to have a closed toe so the open toe style wasn t an option. Her shoe size is larger than mine and I know from experience that at a size 7 I would barely fit into a small so we ordered a medium for her size 8. There s a gap at the heel because it s designed wide in order to accommodate a male foot and it causes the shoe to slip. Because it s designed for men, there s too much dead space around a woman s foot. The adjustable strap can t be pulled as tight as it needs to go in order to make it snug enough to not slip as the Velcro at the ends only covers about 1.5 square inch at the tip which means the strap end must align with the patch located on the side of the shoe; in other words the Velcro on the strap doesn t cover a long enough area to be able attach it anywhere along the strap other than the tip. Pulling it farther on the underside to take up some slack can only go so far due to the thickness of the double-sided Velcro square stitched at the other end. Again, the length of the strap would suffice for the size of a male foot, but it s way too long to adjust down for a woman s more narrow foot. And at the toe end, tightening the adjustable straps makes the closed end bunch up and looks ridiculous. The generic design allows for simple construction for mass production which is why it falls at a <$20 price point, banking on the premise that if it doesn t fit optimally, it s close enough for most. Providing that the correct size is ordered lengthwise, this shoe is fine for a male foot but fits and adjusts (or lack thereof) horribly on a woman s. We will keep it and make due as options are limited and she needs it now because of her job, but it s not ideal and I hope I don t end up donating it to charity because it turns out to make her foot hurt worse due to the inadequate sizing. 2Better than nothing. They're sold singly, but I bought a pair, so I wouldn't feel lopsided when walking, which would be a risk for falling. The hook-and-loop closure over the instep removes entirely, which helps accommodate putting on the shoe over a bulky dressing. The hook-and-loop strap for use around the ankle is stiff and sharp on the edge, which is very uncomfortable, so I removed it. Another kind of strap needs to be substituted, because the shoe is too loose around the ankle without it. 3Go with the mediumI like everything about this but mostly the closed toe. I did not want nor am I allowed to wear an open toe boot at my company without a doctor's note. I prefer a closed toe. I read all the reviews that were all over the map concerning size. so I am women's 7.5 med and so I took a chance and picked the medium boot. Glad I did. I have not too much or too little room at the toes. The boot actually fits perfectly and is warm too. I read a lot about support as well and I think it is perfect in that area as well. I have 2 broken toes and my foot in the boot feels great. No pain at all. The construction is very good, price and shipping was all good. Overall a good purchase. 5We switched to this lighter weight boot when her toe seemed to have gotten a little better. The covering at the toe part of theMy daughter has 'turf toe", a condition that occurs when the toe is bent under the foot as the result of an accident. It has taken a long time for it to heal and having to wear a protective boot has been tiring. We switched to this lighter weight boot when her toe seemed to have gotten a little better. The covering at the toe part of the shoe has been very helpful and protective. She is better able to get around and it does not throw her whole body out of wack when she is walking. Being the mother of two very active little girls means she is on her feet a lot. This boot has been a Godsend. It is a nice weight, has a little flexibility in the sole but not too much. This means her foot is protected and her toe is immovable in the boot, which promotes the healing process. The boot is well made and easily cleaned. There is plenty of padding and it is comfortable enough for her to wear all day. 5Great, But Be Careful of SizingI'm dealing with a stress fracture and wanted a more substantial shoe for those days I have to venture out. This fits the bill perfectly. The high-top-ish construction and the strap that hits closer to the ankle help me to keep my foot flat, while the closed front means dry toes and a less dorky look.Re: sizing. I'm squarely a woman's size 8.5 US. Since I'm only wearing a compression bandage, I went with the size small. My big toe is butting up against the front of the shoe. Tolerable for me because the material is soft, but something to keep in mind if you're above 8.5 or have more bulky bandages. 4Good fit, very protectiveThis shoe fits perfectly. I am a women s size 8.5-9. I have to have a pretty stout buddy wrap on two of my toes. So that wrap, plus a sock, fits perfectly inside this boot, with even a little room to spare. The shoe is long enough that if I hit something it does not jolt my foot. People were worried about it being too boxy or made for a man since it was a right or left boot, but honestly after the wrap on my foot I would t want that toe area any smaller. Also, I have very slim feet and ankles and I have no problem cinching the Velcro down tight enough. Just a tip, on the top Velcro at the ankle you can Velcro one side to the other, and then cinch it up closed. 5
