SOME IMPROVEMENTS NEEDEDBought these knowing they would elevate my walker, but must say I think Drive Med could have made them in such a way that would not cause the walker to be higher, perhaps a shorter leg on the wheels. It is a bit awkward for me as a short person to have my walker raised higher than it should be. Also the brakes would be awkward to use for someone who could not bend to the floor to set the brake on the wheels. They seem to me as fairly useless. I would not recommend these wheels for a truly infirmed person as the walker could easily "run away" with them. These are the problems I see, but the wheels work well for me. 4Replacement for Rollator on dementia unit.I am a PT and had been seeking a solution for residents in dementia unit who were no longer able to safely use rollator. Replacement caster wheels track exactly like rollator for safety in turns. Have replaced two walkers and will be requesting Budget to replace all rollators on unit. Do not know why I haven t seen these wheels more, should be standard equipment. 5NIce Wheels, But Swivel Lock Pin Breaks Off Too EasilyI gave these swivel wheels 4 stars instead of 5 because the "Swivel Lock" mechanism breaks off too easily. This does not significantly negatively affect the performance of the wheels--as long as you don't mind them swiveling all the time. But if you want to lock them so they only travel in a straight line, you will lose that functionality if the swivel lock pin and plastic lever break off. If you do decide to try these--and I do recommend them--be careful with the locking pin mechanism. If they had made the whole mechanism out of metal, this problem might have been prevented. Another note: These wheels will raise your walker by at least a couple of inches (about 5 cm). You will have to adjust the walker to compensate. This is not a problem for a normal height adult, but for shorter people, it may take some getting used to. Thumbs up. 4just didn't work for my motherMy mother uses a rollator walking all the time with swivel wheels. She has a standard walker for inside the house with wheels that don't swivel. Since she likes how the rollator feels I thought to get swivel wheels for her indoor standard walker. But they didn't feel the same.1. my mother thought the wheels were too loose and all over the place. they didn't feel the same as her rollator.2. She is petite and the walker is already set on the lowest height with her current locked wheels. With these swivel wheels attached the walker got too high at the lowest setting. They really should make them to exactly replace the lowest setting of the locked wheels that come with the walker. On Monday I will return them. I hope I won't have a problem. Otherwise they seem like a really good product and quality. 2Bearings versus bushings! Check your swivel mechanism when they come!So I would have given these wheels 5 stars, but I gave 4 and this is why. I work in the rehab business and use these wheels specifically for stroke recovery and gait training. I ordered these wheels here and I must say they are excellent quality. I agree with the comments on height, but that is just how they are.Why I marked them down is because when the walker vendor ordered a pair for a patient they wheels that came were different in spite of having the same model number. When compared the boxes were the same, and the vendor stated that they only have 1 order number for this set of wheels. Here is what I guess happened. The set I ordered here actually has bearings within the plastic and they turn very well with loaded weight. The 2nd set I got from the vendor was plastic with only a bushing inside for the shaft of the wheels. When placed under load they were awful, they stuck and did not swivel freely at all. Sadly, when I called the vendor, I got the same care not attitude that is pervasive in healthcare today as we are just burned out with rule followers and no judgement, "that is the only kind we stock." After explaining several times that Drive likely changed their design after much complaining from customers. I told them they should send their old stock back and get new stock of that order number, I got no response. I sent them back and am ordering them from here and keeping a set on hand for the patients. Agghhh. This is a great great product when chosen carefully and when they have a swivel bearing mechanism versus bushing swivel mechanism.Addendum: After speaking with vendor rep today in person, the confusion was straightened out and they had the "aha" moment. They will be contacting drive regarding the upgraded equipment. 4Game ChangerBought these after DH suddenly became disabled. Learning to walk again. Traditional walker didn't allow for turning. First time up with these wheels he was able to turn with no problem. Game Changer, now hes not discouraged. Physical therapist was impressed. 5Great item but adds height to walkersThis item is really a great idea, the wheels swiveled and the walker was super easy for my 87 year old Mom to maneuver. But the wheels added a few too many inches to the height of the walker making it too high for my Mom. It was even uncomfortable for me at 5'6" tall. We would have had to cut down the walker legs in order to make it the correct height for Mom. We really did like the way the walker went around corners and into/out of tight spots but unfortunately had to return them and that is the only reason for only a 3 star rating. If you are tall and can safely handle the walker being at least 3 inches higher then these are for you. 3Makes Turning Corners Much EasierMuch better than the straight-line wheels when going around corners and curves. The only downside (and it's a slight downside) is that the person who uses the walker is very short. Even in the lowest position on the back legs, the front legs sit slightly higher because of the size of the pivot wheels.Still, the wheels make the walker very maneuverable and much easier to manage turning corners. 5Sadly my product was defectiveI got these put them on my walker. Sat down on the Drive Medical Walker and fell down on the floor. When I recovered my posterior and pulled myself up off the floor into my wheelchair, I discovered there was a crack in the plastic at the joint of the wheel to the walker leg. I had read reviews before hand on how the legs are too tall for the walker and they had to cut them so I ordered a tubing cutter anticipating I would need it but when I looked at the legs and wheels it appeared that one was already shorter than the other with a different type plastic tip than the other and the wheels had some wear on them like it had been used. My walker is a 300 pound walker and I am shy of 250 so weight should not have been an issue in this defective product. 1Go baby go!These are amazing wheels and a true God sent for my mothers walker. Now she can motor all over the place with little or no problems due to the swiveling wheels. These should be standard on all walkers in my opinion, as the standard wheels really limit a persons maneuverability.I am pleased that I purchased these and got my Mom up and moving once again. 5
