Terrible teaThis is not black currant tea. Anyone who has grown or bought black currants knows that they are definitely not sweet. The fragrance of this tea is strong, sweet and doesn't even smell like black currants. I could not get past the fragrance to even take a sip. My husband, slightly braver, took 1 sip and then tossed it. The seller's service was great but the product was absolutely terrible. Do not buy this. 1If you are looking for a black currant flavor - DON'T buy!I'm sorry but this is not black currant tea!It completely misses this wonderful black currant smell and flavor. The tea quality is good but I paid for my favorite flavor! I'm very disappointed...Would return it and would not recommend 1Find it somewhere elseI have been buying and using Harney and Sons Black Currant tea for iced tea for years. I have enjoyed it until the last three 1 pound bags. Something seems to have changed. Each of the last three bags had less and less flavor. The last bag I purchased two months ago has no flavor at all; not even a good flavor of tea and certainly not any fruity flavor of black currant. I suppose that nothing remains the same but I will not purchase another bag; I have found a local tea shop which supplies a wonderful fruity black currant tea instead. Slightly more expensive but worth it 2Weak and terrible product.This tea is WEAK.For this tea, it takes 4 times the amount of normal Yellow Label Lipton Tea to brew something strong enough worth drinking.At 4 times the amount, that's equivalent to $82 a pound. Weak and terrible product. 1Black Currant flavor works.Love this tea, prefer it iced but its a great blend. No additional sweatner necessary in my opinion but certainly can be made that way too. 5Just Black Tea, very little black currant...Fine black tea. For the most part, lacking black currant flavor. I got sucked in by the great reviews, but personally prefer twining's black currant. 1Not black currant tea at allI was shocked when I opened the airtight bag and smelled $30 worth of supposedly black currant tea. Nowhere to be found was the pleasing aroma of black currants. Instead, this tea smells like raisins and, when I picked through the tea leaves, I found whole, soft, shriveled raisins, which don't remotely resemble black currants in any way. In fact, there is something called a "zante currant" (which is a misnomer) that is really a raisin made from Black Corinth grapes, which are a sweet, seedless table grape. Why anyone would want this in black tea leaves is beyond me. True black currants are a type of berry have a delicious fragrance and are quite tart. In form, they resemble blueberries, but they are a dark purplish-black color. There is another brand of black currant black tea leaves (Peet's) that comes in a tin and is the real thing. It is black tea leaves with bits of dried black currants and it has the genuine aroma of black currants with a delightful tart overtone when you drink it. I can't image what Harney & Sons was thinking when they came up with this blend and called it "Black Currant," but I won't be buying their pricey tea again in any flavor. (I still have a tin of their "English Breakfast" that I bought years ago and paid a lot for, only to find that it is redolent of cinnamon, which is not a flavor I want in English breakfast tea.)Anyway, if you like a sweet tea with the overpowering aroma and flavor of raisins, you'll love this tea. But if it's black currant tea you want, well, this is not. 1My new favoriteI was given this as a gift for my birthday last year. I have many other teas but I kept returning to this one. Pretty soon I was saving it for special times. Finally I gave in and ordered this large bag. Happy again. Such rich, well balanced flavor. I m not usually a fruit tea fan but this one just adds a delicious touch of currant. 5Flavor and taste is fantasticGreat flavor. We were disappointed at first when the regular tea we order was no longer available. But it turns out we like the Harney and sons black currant tea a lot more 5Horrible fake flavorI've been drinking Black Current tea for 30 yrs and decided to buy Harney since I had liked one of their teas long ago. This was the worst tea. Highly flavored with totally fake flavor, truly disgusting. Even the smell was fake. The first sip I spit out, not believing it was that bad... but oh yes, it was. The 2nd sip as equally as bad and impossible to drink the cup. So there it sits. It's a tad difficult to find out how to contact these people so I'm writing this review. If fake overpowering flavor works for you, hey, but this product. It was truly horrible for me.I keep over 50 teas and this has definitely been removed from my tea pantry. 1
