Not EzyThis is not an easy sock helper ... what they don't explain is this item is for those who need and wear the heavy mil elastic/support hose or stockings. For the support hose this would be useful. But if you've had hip replacement or knee replacement surgery or have severe arthritis in your back, any problem where you cannot bend to put on a regular cotton/poly sock you need the sock helper found in a 'hip replacement kit' ... not this item. 1Great idea, except the left handle snapped off like it was glued on.This is a really great idea and I could see where it would work as described. I followed the directions and it was working just fine but in the middle of putting the sock on, the left pull arm bent and then snapped right off. I stopped pulling when it bent but it was already coming off. It seemed to be more of a glued on piece the way it reacted than actually welded on, possibly a poor weld. I must admit, I expected better quality. I would never recommend buying this period. 1A Simple, Well-made, and Effective ToolI purchased the Single Ezy Sock Helper for my father who has mobility issues which prevent him from putting his socks on. He is disabled and has had multiple back surgeries. He has a low range of motion and everyday tasks can be a burden for him. I am sure that anyone who is looking at this product knows how hard/humbling an experience this can be. I never imagined my strong father being defeated by putting on a pair of socks. He also has vasculitis which necessitates TED stocking therapy with an 18 mm Hg compression rating. These stockings are already hard enough as it is to put on let alone when you can't put on regular socks.I was skeptical at first as we have tried other sock helpers without success, however, we were really surprised at how well this worked!My father is now fully capable of putting on his compression stockings without any help.This is not made for people with no range of motion. The helper does require the user to be seated and be capable of reaching somewhat below the knee, therefore, this may not be the best option for some. Also, if the user is very tall (my father is 6') I can see how this may hinder the ability of the sock aid as its handles would appear lower on the leg. However, if the patient has limited range of motion and can reach the upper calf area (where it appears on my 6" tall father), they will find this product to function as advertised and should greatly assist them in achieving this daily task.Products like this are infrequent and few. The Single Ezy Sock Helper is an excellent, simple product (ie not complicated or difficult to figure out how to use) which can help your loved one enhance their quality of life.I gave it five stars for: ease of use, value, sturdy construction, and because it made my father smile.I hope you found this review helpful in your search. 5... according to their physical limitations will find this device useful or not------for me-- it was an amazing aid--------I didLet me preface this review by saying each individual according to their physical limitations will find this device useful or not------for me-- it was an amazing aid--------I did not have to call on my husband each morning to assist me in putting on my 20-30 compression knee length stockings-------I am 72 and have good mobility except for the challenge of getting these hose on--------this device makes it so very easy----truly in less than three minutes I have both stockings on un assisted---------I love it======it was certainly worth the investment--- 5Works with regular socks/stockings - not easily used for compression stockings!It's not sized for people with edema, or very fat legs, if you are using it for compression socks/stockings. I bought it for a friend, but he threw away the box, so it can't be returned. The problem is most likely the compression stockings, and the fact that this is sized for 'normal' ankles and legs. We went to a specialty store, where they had one for wide legs w/edema, and that one is too difficult to use with compression stockings.I tried this one myself, though I don't need it, I'm quite limber. I put a regular sock on it, and it worked great as I put my toe in, and pulled it up. It should work for regular sock and stockings, but don't try it with compression socks unless you save the box, just in case it doesn;t work for you, either. It's well-designed and sturdy, just not usable for what we needed. 4Its works well unless you have large calfsPowder coating on metal lets you put the sock on it easily. Be sure to put sock all the way on till the toe end show before putting foot in. (Says this in the instruction sheet I believe) My issue with this is that I use XL compression socks and my calves are fairly large. The guide is too small to slide it up over my calves. I use it to get sock over my heel then have to pull rest of the sock up by hand. My foot tends to get caught on the front floor piece that has a squared off end. It is still much better than trying do do it by hand and if my calves fit the guide it would be an excellent device. Should work well for smaller men or medium women. I will keep looking for something that does not have the small calf size and sharp bottom edge but I am using it till I find something better. 3EZY Sock Helper - excellent device!!!I was not sure that I had ordered a device that would help with donning compression stockings (20-30mm pressure, knee-length) rather than just long socks. However, I was very pleased with the Helper. Either my care giver or I can use it and it is very, very much easier than struggling with putting on the socks with not aiding device. Going by only the printed instructions accompanying the Helper, first Cecily put one on me quickly and easily and then I put on the other myself.Previously, struggling manually to get these stockings on was painful for me and hard work for her. Thank you for supplying a simple mechanism for doing what was a burden for either of us. Also, it frees her from having to come to the house every time I need to dress and makes me feel secure to know that, when I have to travel, I can dress myself with nobody else there to aid me. 5Sturdy construction, pretty good design but rather heavySturdy construction, pretty good design but rather heavy. But Mom is 88 and it was just too cumbersome, awkward and confusing for her. For my purposes it didn't work out but for a middle-aged person with some strength I think it would function very well. 4Awesome ToolThis product makes it so easy to put compression socks on. My husband was prescribed one of the tightest compression socks. He is unable to bend his leg, stretch the sock open and bend over to put them on. I had to put them on for him. I am not strong enough to open the sock enough to put them on without hurting him. The Sock Helper eliminates the pain and is easy for him to pull up by himself thus regaining some independence.Greatest product I have purchased in years. 5It Absolutely WorksThanks to Amazon, I entered "sock putter onner" and pulled up an assortment of devices to address my limited mobility difficulty from a hip problem. I purchased this along with a flexible unit which is more suitable for sticking in a suit case. The Single Ezy has a very short learning cycle but works very well. The handles are too short to use during the initial process as shown in the picture, but the frame works fine just sitting on the floor while you insert your foot. The frame provides enough resistance on the outer sock loop to allow moderate foot pressure to reach the sock toe of the inner loop. A little more pressure using the handles then "unwraps" the outer sock loop onto the calf. 5
