Customer Reviews

So much better than regular regular reading glassesWith these glasses I can see clearly from about 16" out to 36". This covers the full range from a phone in my hand to the other side of my desk, and everything in between, so they're excellent at my desk or in the workshop. Solid frame with spring hinges seems to be holding up very well. My eyes are 0.5 diopters apart (1.25 & 1.75) but the 1.5 diopter model is work very well. I tried 2.0 diopters but it was definitely too strong. Definitely recommended. 5Great glasses will do just fine.this was an excellent purchase money is tight and these glasses will do just fine till can get a new prescription and glasses have been using zenni optical for years but its not good not being able to try on the frames. save tons of money though really seems to be something amiss with some of the doctor opticians exorbitant prices on glasses that can be made for 10 percent on these volume manufacturers. but this is excellent can read the tv the computer would have liked a higher close up but 3 will read the phone so its a win win 5Works well, lightweight, better than major brandLove these. I wear readers, started wearing sunglass readers, and then I bought these. I like these because I don't have to "peer" over my glasses like an old granny or ben franklin to see straight ahead. I can just wear glasses and go about my day. Lightweight. Cheaper than the Foster Grants I started wearing. The frames are metal, but not flimsy. Will buy another pair when I finally lose these (I always do), but I doubt I'll have to replace them for any other reason. Recommended. 5I highly recommend!I was forced to keep two pairs of reading glasses at my desk, and had to constantly had to keep switching between a 1.500 and a 2.00. One to read the computer monitor in front of me, and the other across the desk to read notes and charts. These glasses are amazing, as I can now just use one pair of glasses. I have used them for three weeks and I am fully satisfied. The only down side to them is that they are a little heavier than my old glasses, so they slip down my nose more often than the others I was using. I will be buying a couple more pairs of these so I can have access to them at work, home, and the car. 5The frame is relatively sturdy. The feature I liked least was that the ...I found that these glasses worked reasonably well. The frame is relatively sturdy. The feature I liked least was that the top of the lens still had magnification. Since I just had cataract surgery, I could see well at a distance, so the upper magnification impaired my distance vision. I was able to use these glasses for working at the computer with the mid-range portion of the lens, and the lower portion for reading something without changing glasses. The lenses are quite large which has some benefit for working at the computer, but they would make someone who wore them all the time look goofy. 3OK for periodic use! These glasses are too large for me and feel a bit on the heavy side. I am farsighted and I need to remove them to see clearly at 10 feet and beyond since the lenses are LARGE and I can not look over the top. The progressive focus at max 3.0 is adequate for viewing from 1 to 8 feet. I will use these as backup for my slimline progressive readers or just keep in the car. 2A great help for now and then use.Often I have to work with a computer screen at the same time I must refer to a book or other writing on the desk in front of me. My reading glasses work fine for the book but are too powerful for the screen. I end up having to switch back and forth between pairs of glasses, and that is a real nuisance. Much of the time I just tried to squint to "make do."These multi-focus lenses are just what I needed. I ordered the strength that was most appropriate for ordinary reading. The upper part is about half that strength and makes the computer screen clear enough that I am comfortable.I notice, however, that some learning is needed. I have to keep my head down when reading the screen. For long sessions when I am not at the same time reading something on the desk in front of me, that becomes uncomfortable. So these will not simply substitute for what I had, and will continue to use, as I say, for long sessions of looking only at the screen. The focus is not the best. This may be because I ordered perhaps a slightly too strong magnification. On the other hand, they only come in a few strengths. But I suspect that the lenses are not of the best quality. By test, it seems to me that the two lenses don't quite match, with the result that one side is slightly out of focus. Hence the four stars.Bottom line, these have nowhere near the quality of custom ground prescription lenses. Neither are they anything like as expensive as prescription glasses. If I did more of the kind of work for which these are a help, I would most likely spend the money for prescription lenses. For occasional use, they are fine. 4Great for all-around general useI had cataract surgery for both eyes and the artificial lenses they put in are fixed focus (for some reason they didn't tell me there was a multifocal option that actually can focus...though that would have been a lot more expensive) for beyond a few feet. I now use 3 reading glasses: one for laptop distance, one for closer reading distance, and this one for all around. I would agree with another reviewer that there is noticeable distortion: more than another $35 pair I had bought (well, what do you expect...you are paying more than twice the amount). But I'm wearing these and using the other for backup. This pair has nice big lenses, is lightweight with a style I like. The frame being metal, I can adjust them myself for good fit (the other one I had to take to an optician for adjustment) and they fit me much better than the other pair. For reading and doing jigsaw puzzles on my iPad I use a simple fixed-focus pair for much better clarity. I am currently using the glasses I'm reviewing for typing this review but I suppose my other pair with a set focus would be better for laptops. But, nevertheless I can really rely on this pair for most things; I'm not busy changing between reading glasses like I was with just the fixed focus ones.Update -- I just got prescription glasses for something like $470. I had hopes that it would eliminate my need for all of the other pairs. As it turned out, I don't like it as much as these reading glasses. For the prescriptions, the emphasis is on longer distance so the top half of the lens is good for that. This leaves the bottom half for all of the closer ranges -- which leaves just a narrow strip for each distance and makes for a lot of distortion, making reading and using computers and tablets tough. So I think I'll be using my prescriptions just for trips outside the house. Even though these reading glasses cost 30 times less, they're still my got-to pair! 5Work well if your prescriptive needs match available strengthsRecent cataract surgery. The doctor prescribed bifocals, which are OK for distance and reading, but my computer screen falls in between the two strengths. I wanted to try computer glasses without spending big bucks. These are OK. The reading part is fine, and the middle/computer part is pretty good, but the top/distance part doesn't work well for watching TV (and I'm usually sitting on my laptop at home, alternating between the internet and looking up to watch TV). This is not a fault of the glasses, just of my eyes' prescriptive needs, so if your needs match the glasses strengths, I'd say try them. The frames are a bit large for me (female) and not something I'd necessarily wear in public, but they give a large enough lens area to be able to see each different area, unlike one pr of readers I have that are so narrow I can't read a page without having to move my head. 5Too much distortionI like the concept of multi-focus reading glasses, but these produce too much distortion. When you move your head side to side, even slightly, it feels like the dizzying motion from a fish-eye lens. Had to send them back. 2
